Who is responsible for your data?

Cookies and similar trackers
Nothing is loaded before you make a choice in the banner. You can change your choice at any time via “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page; we ask again after 6 months.
Audience measurement (Google Analytics, Google Ireland Ltd): pages viewed, approximate location, device and referring site, to understand which content interests you. Only with your consent. Cookies _ga and _ga_*, kept up to 13 months. Data may be transferred to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Partner links (Travelpayouts, Stay22): turn booking links (hotels, activities, car rental) into affiliate links, so we receive a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. Only with your consent; without it, the links work normally.
YouTube videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com): YouTube only stores information once you start a video.
Maps use OpenStreetMap tiles: your browser downloads them directly from OpenStreetMap servers, which see your IP address. No cookie.
Data stored in your browser only
Your light/dark theme, reading progress, quiz results, travel passport and cookie choice are kept in your browser (local storage). They are never sent to us and you can erase them by clearing your browser data.
The pages and photos you download from the “Offline” page for reading without a connection are also stored on your device only; you can delete them from that same page.
Data you send us
Newsletter: your e-mail address, used only to send you our new journals. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of each e-mail, or by writing to us at uncouplebelge [at] gmail [dot] com; your address is then deleted.
Contact form: your name, e-mail and message, sent to us by e-mail (Resend) to answer you. Kept as long as needed for the exchange.
Comments: the name you choose and your message, published under the article after moderation. Once a day, we receive an e-mail (Resend) listing the comments awaiting moderation.
Ratings: to prevent repeat votes, we keep an irreversible fingerprint of your IP address, never the address itself.
Forms are protected against spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, which analyses technical data from your browser.

Hosting
The site and its database are hosted by Vercel Inc. (database provided by Neon), which processes server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security and operation.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing or withdraw your consent at any time. Write to us at uncouplebelge [at] gmail [dot] com; we answer within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
